Report Release: A Chronological Account of Sudan’s Conflict, April 2023–February 2025

March 04, 2025 – As Sudan grapples with an escalating humanitarian crisis of unparalleled magnitude characterized by unprecedented violence, widespread displacement, acute food insecurity, and the collapse of essential infrastructure, Fikra for Studies and Development (FikraSD) announces the release of its report titled “A Chronological Account of Sudan’s Conflict, April 2023–February 2025.” This meticulously compiled document chronicles the pivotal events that have shaped the trajectory of the conflict and the whole country over the past twenty-two months, offering a detailed record of a nation ensnared in turmoil. This account emerges, documenting the humanitarian, political, social and military dynamics of the largest humanitarian crisis of our time, to shed light on the stark realities that demand urgent global attention.

The report was designed as a comprehensive, unembellished repository of facts. Intentionally devoid of analytical interpretation, it serves as a foundational resource for scholars, policymakers, humanitarian practitioners, and all those vested in understanding the intricate dynamics of Sudan’s ongoing conflict. By presenting a sequential narrative of major developments—from the outbreak of hostilities in April 2023 between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces to the cascading consequences observed through February 2025—this document ensures that the raw data of history is preserved in its purest form. Such an approach allows readers to engage directly with the events as they unfolded, unmediated by external perspectives, fostering a deeper and more autonomous comprehension of the Sudanese predicament.

This chronological account is not merely a historical exercise; it is a vital instrument for those seeking to navigate the complexities of Sudan’s crisis. In an era where misinformation and fragmented narratives abound, the need for maintaining an honest account of the facts has never been more pressing.

We invite all stakeholders—academics, humanitarian organizations, and concerned global citizens—to explore this resource and utilize it as a cornerstone for their efforts to engage with Sudan’s multifaceted crisis. We have now made “A Chronological Account of Sudan’s Conflict, April 2023–February 2025” available for dissemination, insisting on promoting informed discourse and safeguarding the historical record of a nation facing significant challenges.
