Islamists’ Efforts to Reclaiming Power Aggressive Attempts to Disrupt the Transition

Since the outbreak of the glorious December 2018 revolution and its subsequent victory in April 2019 in overthrowing the Bashir regime and the National Congress Party and dismantling the Islamic Movement’s control over the reins of power in Sudan, the remnants of the defunct regime and the Islamic movement have been actively attempting to thwart the course of civil democratic transformation in the country and turn back the clock in order to regain control of the government.

In pursuit of this objective, Islamists have made many efforts over the past four years. This report from (Fikra for Studies and Development) covers the Islamic Movement’s attempts to undermine the transition. The report also analyzes the various tactics employed by the Islamic Movement in this effort, as well as the internal conflicts that erupted after the revolution between the various wings of the National Congress Party. The report concludes with a review of the intellectual and political crisis of the Islamic movement in Sudan through the testimonies of some experts and former members.
